Mahlon Raymund, Ph.D.
Visiting Research Associate
Mahlon Raymund, Ph.D., has been a Visiting Research Associate in the
department of Family Medicine since 1997. He earned his Ph.D. in
physics from the University of Chicago in 1963. Dr. Raymund was a
post-doctoral Fellow at the University College in London England in
1965. Following this fellowship, he returned to the University of
Chicago as a Research Associate at the Enrico Fermi Institute. His work
in Chicago and London was in the area of sub-nuclear particles. After
leaving the University of Chicago in 1968, Dr. Raymund worked for 18
years with the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. This primarily
involved neutron diffusion, fracture analysis, and flow applications for
nuclear reactors. In 1986, Dr. Raymund was appointed as a senior
lecturer in the department of Mathematics and Statistics where he
provided supercomputing advice and applications. Dr. Raymund's position
in the department is as a data manager with Dr. Richard Zimmerman's
Immunization research group. He also works as a research associate with
Profs J. Franzen and C. Peebles in the department of Biological Sciences
on modeling experimental enzyme data.
