William Howard Markle M. D.
Assistant Professor
William Howard Markle, M.D., DTM&H has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family
Medicine since 1994. As a graduate of the Pennsylvania State
University, Hershey Medical Center, Dr. Markle completed a Family Practice Residency at
the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and the Blackstone Family Practice Center and
is a board certified in Family Practice. Dr. Markle is an energetic educator of Family
Medicine serving as a lecturer, preceptor, co-director of the Community / Ambulatory
Medicine Clerkship and the Predoctoral Director in Family Medicine. Dr. Markle has been presented
with both the Family Practice Instructor of the Year Award and the Second Annual Faculty
Teaching Award for his respected teaching efforts. With a strong interest in international
and tropical medicine, Dr. Markle also has experience working in a variety of foreign
countries including India, Thailand and Swaziland and helps to arrange international
health electives for University of Pittsburgh medical students.
