Wednesday, Jan 18 -- Last ten minutes in the Library - Scavenger hunt
Jan 14 & Jan 21 Begin browsing the tables of contents of Inorganic Chemistry looking for articles of interest.  Select three that represent a topic that you might want to research further.    Full citation and summary paragraph due January 25
Jan 21 through Mar 8
Spend this time researching your topic. Locate and read the leading references for the article that you selected.  Search the literature for other papers by the same authors and for other papers related to your topic.  Begin building a working bibliography, developing a thesis statement and summarizing your lead papers. 
If the first bibliography is ready before February 22, turn it in!  If the summaries are ready before March 20, turn them in!
Feb 4
BI Session with Library staff-- SciFinder Scholar Tentative
Meet with Dr. Bell by Friday 2/8 to discuss your topic (based on the summaries).
Feb 11
Compare and Contrast -- a class exercise
Feb 18
Results of Literature Search due on February 22.
Feb 25 Meet with Dr. Bell-Loncella by Friday 3/2 to discuss results of Literature Search/Revised Bibliography.

Spring Break

First draft due 3/27

Summaries of key articles 3/20 
Mar 4 - 27
Use this time write (and rewrite) your rough draft. You can continue to add references and even modify your thesis/outline if you find new information. Once you have the general structure of you paper, you can concentrate on the best way to build your arguments. Feel free to ask questions. If the draft is ready before March 27, turn it in! Rewrite due 4/15 (5 PM)

Abstract for UPJ SPACE

Deadline for Abstract 5 PM March 20

Use the Web-based Student Registration Form

  • Print 2 copies of your web registration for.  Give one to Dr. Bell and keep one for your files.

  • Submit your abstract as MSWord file using the web-based Student Registration Form by 5 PM. 

  • Formal Abstract (hard copy) to Dr. Bell - 112 B E&S by 5 PM (Wednesday 3/20)

Mar 25 - 29 First draft of paper due 3/27. 
Apr 1 - 5 Make an appointment to discuss rough draft and poster material with Dr. Bell  (4/1 - 4/5) 
Work on Re-write and prepare material for poster presentation.
Apr 8 - 12
Finish your poster material and fine-tune the revised version of the paper
Wednesday, April 10
Symposium for the Promotion of Academic and Creative Enquiry
Apr 15 - 19
Completed revised paper due 4/15 by 5 PM
