Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Instructors

WHO SHOULD USE THIS SITE?
Primarily, instructors of ESL students who are learning to write research papers, but others are also welcome.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEB SITE?
Itís a supplementary source of information, ideas, and exercises for teachers of the RP to ESL/EFL students -- rather like a curriculum file cabinet, except that itís on the web.   However, there are no substitutes for person to person interaction in the classroom.  Computers are good for providing lots of information and a limited set of mainly mechanical exercises.  The information and exercises can be very useful if used in addition to that provided by the teacher or the textbook.

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT EXERCISE TYPES USED HERE?
Question and answer; multiple choice; true/false (yes/no)

HOW WILL THESE EXERCISES HELP MY STUDENTS?
For certain aspects of format in writing papers, such as citation forms, students can improve their accuracy.  For other aspects they can refine their understanding (e.g in undrestanding thesis statements).

WHAT OTHER RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE FOR ELI TEACHERS?
There are no websites for ESL students learning to write research papers (as far as we know).  There are many sites related to ESL and  writing skills in general.
