Lecture Description:

  This lecture will introduce the reader to the various forms of violence receiving attention in the injury community today. The focus will then shilft to a review of the surveillance systems for identifying criminal violence, and a discussion of the characteristics of victims of crime.


  On completion of the lecture, readers will be able to:

  • Understand the distinctions between various forms of violence
  • Identify the existing surveillance systems for criminal violence, their strengths and their weaknesses
  • Identify the characteristics found among victims of crime
