ENGR 0715: Engineering Applications for Society

Eric Zatcoff

Hi, my name is Eric Zatcoff and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering. I am from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, located in Bucks County, outside of Philadelphia. I have an older brother named Brad at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and a younger 9-year-old sister named Allie. I graduated from Council Rock High School South in June of 2007. I play the alto Saxophone and was the Band Captain of my high school's marching band. I also know some Spanish since I studied it for five years in high school. I would like to visit Spain someday, as well as England and Israel.

My favorite subjects are physics and math, which is why I chose to major in Engineering. Engineering will allow me to use these skills in physics and math to make things that will benefit society. I am not sure which type of engineering I am going to pursue, but right now I am looking at either Industrial or Mechanical. I chose to come to the University of Pittsburgh because of its great Engineering program and I knew that there were people there that would help me choose an engineering descipline. So far I have enjoyed the engineering curriculum and I plan on staying within the engineering program.
