EdPitt is a refereed online graduate student journal of the School of Education (University of Pittsburgh). EdPitt publishes papers, essays and book reviews from US and non-US graduate students, offering innovative perspectives to current topics of focus in each issue of the journal. EdPitt is edited and governed by graduate students with advice and support from a Faculty Advisory Board.

Types of submissions considered

Article submissions to the EdPitt Journal are welcomed from all graduate students (both masters level and doctoral level) enrolled in any program in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh or any other university. The EdPitt Journal publishes articles that reflect the diversity of research, theoretical, and professional interests of the graduate students in education. Mindful of this, authors are requested to avoid using technical jargon and other specialized language that may be unfamiliar to readers.

Given that the contributors to this journal are graduate students, working on master’s theses or doctoral dissertations, we also welcome submission of Works in Progress. Such works may include articles based upon degree work currently underway. We also encourage submission of works that may have had their genesis as papers written for courses but have been elaborated upon.

We welcome Conference Reviews. Such contributions would be focused upon conferences, workshops, and symposia attended by the author. With this contribution, the hope is to provide current information that goes beyond the dates and place of a particular conference and to meaningfully discuss the content of presentations and the issues that may have emerged.

Book Reviews are also welcome. An acceptable book review would go beyond a mere summary of the book but would discuss the scope and nature of the contents as well as offer a critical evaluation of the contents. Editorials and thought pieces will be considered for submission as well. Such contributions will be seen as reflections upon issues of intellectual import such as the nature of educational research and its relevance for educational practice.

Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted for this journal are subject to two blind reviews by graduate students.

Failure to follow these guidelines may prevent the manuscript from being reviewed.

Authors may submit their articles on floppy disk or electronically (as an MS Word/text document or as an HTML file).
