Information concerning Louvre kothon.

A mythologically very interesting artifact is a kothon (vessel for oil or perfume) from about 570 BCE in the Louvre Museum, Paris.
An overall description of the vessel and the three scenes on its sides is available from the the Perseus Project.

Fourteen illustrations are available from the the Perseus Project, including (1) the birth of Athena, (2) the judgment of Paris, and (3) perhaps the wedding of Zeus and Hera, as well as the frieze of warriors on the rim.

For other representations of the birth of Athena, cf. H & P, pp. 5 (two illustrations), 58-59, and 76. For other representations of the judgment of Paris, see H & P, pp. 316, 1001. For another representation of the wedding of Zeus and Hera, see H & P, pp. 77, 110 (same picture in both).
