1) The approval of minutes for April's meeting.

2) Discussion of new initiatives for 2003-2004 Academic Year

1. Classroom space

There was a question concerning access to technology in classrooms, as well as the number of rooms in use compared to ten years ago. Are we keeping pace with enrollment? Secondly, one of the members indicated a large proportion of classrooms may be reserved but are not in actually in use. This may be an aspect of space consideration worth pursuing. Additionally, the University has upgraded a number of classrooms in the last 7 or 8 years, an upgraded index of these classrooms may be needed.

Dr. Kerry Holzworth mentioned Greensburg campus has added housing but it has been 10 years since the last new classroom was added.

2. Computer access

There was a question from David Crossman if there would be any change in the availability of high speed internet access from home. Amy Knapp replied that the main campus and probably Greensburg would be upgraded, but Bradford and Titusville campus has no access currently. It may be wise to make available, with no charge or at least a nominal fee, high speed access

Tony Silvestre made the remark that you are not allowed to use Research and Development money for internet costs from home.

Dr. Amy Knapp remarked that dissatisfaction was voiced and it was reported at the last Senate Faculty Meeting concerning available computer use by the part-time faculty. Tom Metzger indicated that this idea should be addressed to the Chairs of the Committees meeting in September

3) Campus Climate

Toni Silvestre passed out "Campus Climate" a document by Susan Rankin, from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute. This report deal with issues related to acceptance at the institute of higher learning. He asked that members read and comment at the next meeting.

3) Old and New Business

Drs. Evelyn Talbott and Amy Knapp nominated and seconded the Ex-officio nomination of Tony Silvestre for SEPC, and the vote was carried with a majority. Kerry Holzworth will not be returning next year, the Committee thanked him for his stellar attendance and participation.

The part-time faculty survey conducted this year by the SEPC yielded excellent results in that administrative changes were made to enhance part-time faculty such as library ID's, inclusion in CIDDE mailing, enhanced awareness for inclusion of part-time faculty into department affairs.

4) Adjournment 1 pm

HAVE A GOOD SUMMER.
