Chinese Courses

0126 Basic Chinese 2 Reading

SUMMER DATES: 3rd 4-week session: July 9- August 4 2007 (meets MTWThF 10-11:50 AND 1-2:50 including the Speaking class.) Register for CHIN 0025/0125 for the first half of "Basic Chinese" if you want the equivalent of a full year (Fall and Spring term's worth). These are 2 four-week sessions, totally 8 weeks (not 10 weeks like First- and Second- Year Japanese intensive)

CLASS NUMBER FOR SUMMER: 16225 (MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY 1-2:50; TUESDAY AND THURSDAY 2-2:50)

1. This is the second term of the beginning ready course for students who finished CHIN 0125 or the equivalent. Students choosing this course should consider also enrolling in CHIN 0026 as well.  Students will be expected to be able to write simple conversations, letters, or short essays of 40-50 lines or 100-150 characters on everyday topics. In addition to the linguistic skills, cultural aspects relevant to each language unit will also be introduced.

2. Prerequisites: completion of the first term in a continuation of Basic Chinese 1 Reading (CHIN 0125).

3. No recitation.

4. Expected class size: 20 students.

5. This course is offered in the spring term.
