Chinese Courses for Summer 2008

0011 First Year Reading (Liping Chen)

SUMMER DATES: 2nd 4-week session: June 9- July 5, 2008. Register for CHIN 0002/0012 for the second half of "Basic Chinese" if you want the equivalent of a full year (Fall and Spring term's worth). These are 2 four-week sessions, totalling 8 weeks (not 10 weeks like First- and Second- Year Japanese intensive). Note: this course used to be called "Basic Chinese 1 Speaking" CHIN 0125.

Register for 24018 the lecture. If you take "Speaking" and "Reading" (which is what we recommend), you'll be in class Monday through Friday 10:00 am through 3:50, with an hour break for lunch.

1. This is a beginning writing and reading course intended to complement CHIN 0001 First Year Spoken. While it is recommended to take both components concurrently, students who are interested in oral communiction and find it difficult to find time to learn reading/writing may register for this course only.

2. Prerequisite: If a student is not concurrently taking CHIN 0001, the student should obtain the consent of the instructor.

3. Recitations: there is not another recitation section assigned to this course.

4. Expected class size: 10 students.
