"Dwelling Narrowness:

The Censor, the Market, and Chinese TV Drama"

Dr. Ruth Yu Yui Hung is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of English of the University of Hong Kong.  Dr. Hung took her D. Phil. at the University of Oxford in Chinese Studies.  In 2007 and 2008, Dr. Hung held the David Senior Scholarship in Chinese Studies at Oxford.  She has published on the Chinese critical intellectual, Hu Feng, and on the genre of Chinese memoir writing in English since the Cultural Revolution.  Currently, she is completing two books, one on Hu Feng’s life and career and the other, a monograph, tentatively entitled, “Chinese Memoirs and the Politics of Writing.”  This talk on TV is part of an emerging project on media.
