Welcome to the Early Development Research Center!  We are a consortium of researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University who are dedicated to exploring child development from early infancy through the pre-school years.  The center's studies have focused on many important aspects of development including, but not limited to:
                            motor & gesture development
                            speech processing
                            word learning
                            gender identification
                            self-understanding
                            face recognition
                        development in twins
                       development in autistic children

Our mission is to understand how infants and young children come to master their physical and social worlds.  The center's research is important for parents, teachers, doctors, therapists and anyone who influences the lives of young children.
