Pitt Crew: MEETING MINUTES 7/5/07

OLD TRAILER

Our trailer is “almost” sold to Robert Morris; we are waiting on the title to finalize the transaction. Mark will call AAA to track where it is. We are getting $2,900 for it.

NEW TRAILER

The 39’ trailer that SGB approved money for us to buy costs $13,450 Daniel (and the board) agreed that it would be a more beneficial purchase for the team to acquire a 41’ trailer ($13,950) with a weight distribution hitch ($596), tool box ($560 which Vic will donate his money to buy), light bar ($420), and LED lights ($255) totaling $15, 781. With the money SGB has allocated for us together with the money from the sale of our old trailer, we will still be making a small profit of $1,169. Board approved this purchase and it is under way.

EQUIPMENT

We need someone to be in charge of keeping track of bow lights and batteries. Everyone should let Emily know when they notice that their batteries/bow lights are dead. It is still Emily’s responsibility to keep track of this, but all should help.

ERG ROOM(S)

We are in the process of inquiring about getting the room across from our erg room (on the other side of the gym) in order to make it a lifting room. Stay tuned for the date and time of the fall erg room clean-up.

TECH CHAIR

If you haven’t checked out the new website…DO SO…it looks great. Dean is in the process of finding out how we can get more space (either through Yahoo $40/month or through the University) in order to create an online store on the website.

COACHING AVAILABILITY

-Vic: Available Fall mornings and for novice practices most days for the first 3-4 weeks of school. -Matt (board voted to hire): Can do mornings and afternoons but is more interested in novice coaching. -Daniel: same availability as last year (PM with varsity volunteers who can drive launches).

ACTIVITIES FAIR

Sunday August 26th from 2-5 pm. There will be a team meeting at 12 noon the day of the fair. We will need media from Dean (TV from the erg room and laptop with slide show)

RECRUITMENT MEETING

Tuesday August 28th in the assembly room from 7-8:30 pm. CRB is in charge of the flyers.

VARSITY/NOVICE START DATES

The first varsity practice will be Saturday September 1st at the Boathouse at 8am. The first novice practice will be Wednesday August 29th at Bellefield at 5:30pm Lou will add a sheet for parent info for all packets (novice and varsity).

NOVICE TRANSPORTATION

Sean is in charge of setting it up, Daniel and Carrie will call off the bus if weather is not permitting. We are no longer sharing the bus with CMU because of our numbers. We need to organize varsity volunteers for fall novi (schedule everyone to attend 2-3 times/month).

FALL RACING

HOTOhio HOTCharles—we plan on entering a light women’s 4, men’s club 4, and men’s collegiate 4. HOTSchuylkill We may want to enter another race (either as boats, the team, or those who didn’t attend Charles). Vic may be able to find housing for free if we take a limited number of people.

MIKE

Is making an erg score hall of fame for current and past Pitt Crew rowers (light, heavy, women, men). Also making a captain’s list (difficult for years prior to ’96 but still trying).

FUNDRAISING

There will be a separate meeting for fundraising TBA. We may need to create a fundraising committee that would be headed by the fundraising chair. We may also need a recruitment committee to get our name out there before other clubs (like during Pitt Start) in the future.
