Final Camp Bob Arrangements
- bus arrives at Soldiers and Sailors at 9pm Friday March 7th; departure at 9:30pm.
- arrive at Camp Bob Saturday March 8th (first meal is hot breakfast)
- costs in contract: $243.50 per rower / $292.50 per coach
- 50+ rowers = one coach taken off our invoice
- Charge to the team: $250 due date: March 2nd @ team meeting
- Return either Friday PM or Saturday AM (Coaches' discretion)
-
We have too many rowers for one chartered bus. Lou has reserved 2 sedan cars from Fleet Services at a charge of $37/day each. We can cancel any cars we do not need. Further arrangements for rowers driving themselves will be discussed at the March 2nd board meeting.
Supplemental Allocations Requests
- Camera. Mark has placed a request to funds to purchase a camera. If this request is denied, Carrie will loan her camera for the use of the team during Camp Bob and the spring season. Should the request be denied, Money for the camera will be placed on our budget for next year. If it is denied again, the team will use its own funds to purchase a camera.
- Spring break $. Tuesday February 19th the Student Govt Board will be voting on whether or not to grant Pitt Crew $6000 for our bus transportation to South Carolina. Team members are encouraged to be present at the meeting to show the board that this is important to us.
Newsletter Distribution
- online: the link is active and there is a link on the bottom of each page.
- email copies have been sent to alumni, family of alumni, parents, whoever we could
- Postal distribution? Partial newsletter mailed to everyone with an invitation to go to the website to see the full newsletter. Chris is going to investigate the costs of mailing our newsletter to parents of members and will let the board know what it costs.
- Mailing the newsletter needs to be pushed as a major priority.
Fundraising
- Erg-a-thon Wednesday February 27th 10am-4pm. (This will serve as each rower's long piece practice.)
- Work Weekend Dates: The flyer is available online and Tesla will bring copies for rowers to distribute. Rowers can also download the flyer, print and distribute them.
- Other Ideas??? Tesla is going to think of an idea, everyone should come up with one fundraising idea and bring it up to the board.
Summer Rowing
-
We have a list of names to gauge interest and numbers (22 rowers, 2 or 3 cox)
- Daniel needs to communicate what his availability is to run a program from our boathouse. We may be referring our team members to participate at Steel City or on a flexible schedule with Floren.
- Any further details will be discussed after we know what Daniel's plans are.
ACRA Championships
(look at memos from Gregg Hartsuff, available online)
Logistics to consider:
- Distance:
- Rower transportation (fly/drive)
- Equipment (rent / try to charge other teams and fill our trailer)
- Accommodations (hotel/camp/hosted by other teams)
-
Cost:
- Paid for 100% by rowers
- 50/50 Rowers and team
- SGB allocations request
- Additional fundraising effort (additional work weekends done by rowers going directly to costs of this race)
-
Who goes:
- Qualifications (as specified by Pitt Crew, i.e. medaling at Vails, erg scores)
- Participation over Results
- Board discussion: It is too difficult to project our costs for attending this regatta. There is little information, especially about fees, available right now.
- One option to help offset costs would be to explain the need to parents and friends at our spring regattas (especially Dad Vails!) and ask them to contribute to help send our team to Oklahoma. We can keep a count of how much money is contributed so we can update at each event.
- The Gift Account (04 account) has been accumulating money, but has been untouched so far. We will explain the situation to the entire team and have a vote to see if every approves to use some of this money to help fund our participation in the ACRA Championships.
- Decisions on which boats are going to race will be made as we know how certain boats are competing in their field and which rowers would be available to attend the regatta.
- For this year, as it is the first year for this particular event, Pitt Crew will be mainly concerned with getting boats there to represent our school.
