My parents are not quite as computer savvy as I am, so they asked me to research flights for them online and see if I can find some cheap airfares for their upcoming trip to London.  I have gone online looking at all the great travel websites and airline sites and have had a hard time locating cheap international flights.  I have really never traveled abroad and am not sure what a good rate is.  All I know is that these rates seem to be anything but discount airfares.  I know that they are really looking forward to this trip; however, money is kind of tight.  Mom lost her job a few years ago, and because of her advancing age, has not really had any luck finding a new job.  Dad’s business was not doing well, and last year he had to close it and return to work, which at 60 was not a fun experience.  He had been working for himself since I was a kid, but now having to return to the work force after all these years has been a difficult transition to say the least. 

 

Anyway, I know that they are counting on me to find them some cheap international flights and I am coming up with nothing.  I don’t know anything about this kind of travel, and if I did find an airline offering discount flights I don’t know how I could figure out whether or not they would be a reliable, reputable airline.  I just worry about booking this flight for them.  I know that they can’t afford anything too extravagant, yet they have been trying to get this trip to London underway for years.  They are not getting any younger, and I am afraid if the price is too high, they will just put it off again, and perhaps never get to make this trip together.  They deserve this special time for all their hard work.

 

I think I will probably try to reach a travel agent in the morning, and will see if they have any cheap airfares on carriers that they can recommend.  Maybe, at the very least, they could help me narrow down which airlines are the best to fly internationally with.  I think if the flights still are costing way too much, I may just call my brother and see if we can put some money towards their tickets.  We could just pay the difference and make them thinking that they are getting a really great deal.  If they knew we were trying to pay for their trip, they would never allow it, however, what they don’t know won’t hurt them.
