Tuba Day

Out oldest son, Joshua, is a low brass player. He is currently playing euphonium, but as soon as his school allows him to, he will probably switch to tuba. His instructor, Phil vanOuse, hosts an annual Tuba Day, which is a combination Master Class and Recital for tuba (and related instrument) players. Phil thought that our great hall would be an ideal location for tuba day, and it turned out he was pretty much right.

Phil vanOuse and Sumner Erickson introduce the families and friends to Tuba Day 2008. Sumner was the lead tuba for the Pittsburgh Symphony for many years, and he leads the Master Class that precedes the Tuba Day recital.

Leah introduces the participants and announces their selections.
At the end of the evening, all the tuba players gather in the great hall to play one of Sumner's compositions. This is the front half.
