The Cathedral of Learning
Much of our life at HPS takes place in the tallest building in Oakland.
HPS is located in Pittsburgh's only gothic skyscraper.
The Cathedral of learning is a 535-foot skyscraper, built during the great depression. There are 42 stories; the HPS and philosophy departments are located on the 10th floor.
The Cathedral of Learning houses many of the University departments, but also contains over twenty beautiful
nationality rooms. The stained-glass in the Irish room is pictured here.
The ceilings on the main floor are two stories high. It's normally very quiet, and makes an excellent study area.
It is also a the perfect launching pad for a remote-control helicopter. Dubbbed, "The HPS Helicopter" by Mr. Balazs Gyenis.
