Humanities and Behavioral Science

Academic Villages Floor Plan

The Academic Villages are designed to enrich and extend intellectual, social and experiential learning at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for both residential students and commuters alike.

The Humanities Village, opened in 1999, consist of three houses (Athena, Apollo, and Selene).  Opened in the fall of 2001, the Behavioral Sciences Village consists of three additional buildings (Thurgood Marshall House, Margaret Mead House and Ben Franklin House).  Both share a Village Hall, where commuters and residents alike can meet and participate in various activities.

The Villages are intended to build a sense of belonging for all students.  Residents will forge new friendships as they participate in the Village programs.  Field trips, performances, lectures and exhibits are planned for students’ enjoyment.  The objectives of the program are to engage students fully, to enhance their experiences in creative ways and to strengthen their college education.  The Villages welcome commuters and residents to join and participate in this unique community of scholars.  This program is available to all - freshmen through seniors.

If you wish to live in BSAV or HAV housing, you will be required to complete a separate Membership Information Form and Application.  Because the residents of the BSAV and HAV are held to higher standards, the expectations, both academically and personally, are greater.
