Champions |
Author: |
Gregory S Spalding |
Binding: |
Paperback |
Info: |
|
| Three Rivers That Spawned The City Of Champions stands as Greg
Spalding's fourth book and serves as a complete history of three of the most
special decades in Pittsburgh sports history. Greg went to his first Pirate game
in 1970 at the age of 12 and attended the last Bucco game at Three Rivers in
2000 at the ripe age of 42. So this book chronicles incredible memories,
especially for a generation of fans who grew to love this edifice. Over the
years, Greg has attended close to 700 games at Three Rivers, including a high of
66 Bucco games in 1991. Naturally, he attended several Steeler games as well. So
few people can write about this edifice's history like Mr. Spalding. He has also
written Sailing the Three Rivers to the Title, about the '71 Pirates, Shine!
All-Stars, Shine!, a pictorial essay about the '94 MLB All-Star Game, and Run
the Greatest Race, a work about running life's race. Greg served as the
editor-publisher for Baseball's Best Kept Secret. the autobiography of Al
Oliver. His City of Champions Publishing Company, which publishes books, offers
desktop publishing services and English-Spanish translation, owes its name to
the accomplishments of the teams at Three Rivers. Additionally, he serves as the
Research Analyst for Sportsweek, a weekly national sports magazine show, hosted
by former Cleveland Indian Tom McGough, produced locally at CTV. He lives with
his wife Lilly and his son Carlos in the suburbs of the City of Champions! |

The Incident that could have Killed Pittsburgh |
Author: |
Robert H. Johns |
Binding: |
Paperback |
Info: |
|
| Looking Back into Pittsburgh History...Man's quest to solve a mystery results in a manuscript published seventeen years after his death, but not an end to the mystery. Conclusions point to a deception intended for the great good in the true story of the infamous B-25 bomber that crash-landed and then vanished in the Monongahela River on January 31, 1956. Witnesses claim that the plane was secretly recovered. Fifty-two
years later the story is still a mystery. The book is borne out of Johns' writing. Published with minimal changes by Robert E. Cole, editor, this book presents the facts behind the incident just as Mr. Johns encountered them, bit-by-bit and surprising piece-by-piece. Johns says in his notes that those facts, when assembled, present a picture inescapably different from what we were intended to accept. Without this deception, he asserts,
Pittsburgh might very well have disappeared. What happened to the B-25 bomber that crashed in the Mon in 1956 -- then vanished? The Search - The Failures - The Research -The Incident. Read Robert Johns' quest for answers and see for yourself how baffling, how compelling, and ultimately how revealing The Incident That Could Have Killed Pittsburgh is. This book is not the end of the story. Robert A. Goerman, close friend and investigative
consultant to the author, has reopened the cold case investigation. Another book may be in the making. |
