Bruce Martin McLaren

 

I am currently a senior researcher at the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) in Saarbrücken, Germany and a member of the research faculty at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA (USA).  My research and interests lie in the area of learning science, particularly in educational technology, collaborative learning, metacognitive learning, the application of AI techniques to educational systems, and intelligent tutoring systems. I earned a Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems at the University of Pittsburgh in 1999.  I also have extensive professional experience in software design and development and project management. 

Last, but certainly not least, I'm a family man, the father of two boys, and active in a variety of sports and outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, volleyball, and skiing.
