
Jerome Taylor
received his doctorate in 1965 in Clinical Psychology at Indiana University,
Bloomington, Indiana. Currently, he holds a joint appointment at the University
of Pittsburgh as Associate Professor in Psychology in Education, School of Education,
and in Africana Studies, Faculty of Arts and Sciences. His major interests include
the role of medial values and cultural identity on personal development and
parenting as well as intimate relationships within black families. Recently,
he was the recipient of the Chancellor's Distinguished Public Service Award
at the University of Pittsburgh and the Kujichaquilia Award from the Sankofa
Institute of Pittsburgh. Dr. Taylor is also the Executive Director of the Center
for Family Excellence (CFE). For three decades, he and several of the key leaders
in the CFE have been working with families in the Hill District and other underserved
Western Pennsylvania neighborhoods to help them develop the strengths and personal
excellence required to transform adversity into hope and productivity.
