  Environmental Sciences Workshop Kit

After attending a Department of Biological Sciences workshop, participants are eligible to request science kits containing all the materials, supplies, and equipment required to perform workshop protocols with their students at no cost to the teacher or school district.

Examples of studies that may be performed with the materials in the Environmental Science Kit include: diversity of aquatic invertebrates in lakes and streams, vertical profiles of temperature, oxygen, and conductivity in lakes, and effects of acid rain or acid mine drainage on water quality and species diversity. Teachers may request some or all of the kit components when completing the Kit Application.

Materials:

  • 1 Piccolo pH meter
  • 1 Dissolved oxygen meter
  • 1 Conductivity meter
  • 10 Sweep nets
  • 10 Dip nets
