Professional Interests of
Melanie Popa
As an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin, where I earned both a BA in English and a BS in Bacteriology, I was lucky to have extremely skilled and dedicated teachers in both liberal arts and science classes. As I continued my education as a graduate student in the Biological Sciences Department at the University of Pittsburgh, my luck held under the excellent tutelage of Roger Hendrix as my research advisor. When my professional goals were redefined, I was fortunate, yet again, to find a gifted teaching mentor in Susan Godfrey. My goal is to continue the worthy tradition of educating prospective scientists.

My duties in the Biological Sciences Department include teaching microbiology and virology laboratory classes and the writing practica associated with them.
