The Pittsburgh Area Yeast Meeting brings together research groups with special interests in using yeast (primarily the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae), as a model system. The Pittsburgh yeast community including members of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Biological Sciences and Department of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, and the Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. The Pittsburgh Area Yeast Meeting convenes monthly on Friday at 3:30 pm in the Mellon Institute Social Room; speakers/labs should coordinate food and drinks in advance. Talks should be about 20 to 25 minutes in length, leaving 5 to 10 minutes for questions and discussions. A short break will be taken between presentations to allow for extra time to catch up with your colleagues. Presentations should be informal and discussion of on-going projects and new methodologies that may be of interest to the yeast community are encouraged. An overhead projector will be provided; if you need more elaborate AV equipment, you should bring it and allow time to set it up.
