"It's well worth the time & money to come to PLE. I had a blast!" - PLE student evaluation Admissions Admissions procedures vary depending on where students are enrolled. University of Pittsburgh students may enroll for courses offered at the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology with one of the Biological Sciences Advisors or with the University's Office of the Registrar. You don't need to be a major within the Department of Biological Sciences to enroll; everyone is welcome! Clarion, Edinboro, and Slippery Rock Universities of Pennsylvania participate in a cooperative program at PLE. Students enrolled through any of these institutions register, pay tuition, and receive credit at their home institutions. Students from these institutions should contact their respective colleges about registration, tuition, and credit procedures. Students from other institutions are also welcome to take courses offered at PLE. Please contact the University of Pittsburgh Summer Sessions Office for registration procedures. Class size is limited, so enroll soon!
Tuition and Fees Tuition : University of Pittsburgh Tuition Rates and Required Fees (Pittsburgh campus rates apply; out-of-state students contact Christine Berliner for information on receiving the in-state rate. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Lab Fee : All students are charged a lab fee of $53 per class. University of Pittsburgh students pay this fee to the Registrar. Students from other institutions must pay the lab fee on the first day of class at PLE. Textbooks can be purchased at Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology. Room & Board Fee : There is a $380 fee for each 3-week course (this is NOT part of your tuition bill - please pay upon arrival at PLE). This fee can be paid by cash or check (made out to the University of Pittsburgh) upon arrival. NO credit cards, please. A limited number of student positions are available in return for a 50% reduction on Room & Board fees. Contact PLE as soon as possible to be considered for these positions! Scholarships for Room & Board Fee : Several awards for housing fees for deserving undergraduate students are available from the Richard T. Hartman Scholarship Fund and The Mike Orosz Scholarship Fund. The application is located in the welcome packet on the arrival webpage. For additional information, contact Christine Berliner. |
