Research Rotations in Molecular, @@@@Cell and Developmental Biology

Lucy Xu at the microscope During their first year, students do three, ten-week, research rotations in three different laboratories within the department. These rotations provide an opportunity for stude nts to explore different laboratory environments, advisors and research areas. Students usually select these rotations according to their areas of interest and with input from their Academic Advisors. Students are encouraged to visit faculty members and discuss their topics of research and possible rotations projects. Final decisions on rotation labs are dependent upon agreement between the student and faculty rotation advsor. Upon completion of each rotation, students give a 15 minute oral presentation to the faculty and their fellow students. This presentation helps the faculty assess the progress of each student in research activities.
