Clapp-Langley-Crawford Complex

Nearly all of the facilities required for state-of-the-art research and high-quality teaching are housed in the Clapp-Langley-Crawford complex (pictured above). The CLC complex is managed by Mr. Frank Vincunas (below left), and the facilities are maintain by David Malicki (below right)

The Department is superbly equipped with a wide variety of instrumentation and numerous common facilities including darkrooms, cold rooms, virus and tissue culture facilities, controlled environment rooms, ultracentrifuges, high-pressure liquid chromatography, electron microscopes, a PhosphorImager, X-ray diffractometers, an X-ray area detector, computer graphics, confocal and fluorescence microscopes, experimental data collection/processing minicomputers, microcomputer facilities, a transgenic mouse facility, PCR machines, and a facility for DNA oligonucleotide synthesis, high throughput DNA sequencing and gene microarray analysis.

In addition, the CLC complex houses the Langley Bioscience Library, the Hughes computing laboratory for undergraduates, several state-of-the-art greenhouses and plant growth facilities, and its own well-equipped stockroom carrying virtually all commonly-used reagents and supplies in Molecular Biology. More complete information can be found by following the links to the left.

All faculty and students have access to the Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center managed by Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. The University of Pittsburgh is also a member of the Three Rivers Consortium for the Environment.

Members of the Departments of Biological Sciences, Neurosciences and Psychology should use this form to request an IP address for a new computer.
