Professional Interests of Eric Polinko

While pursuing my graduate degree in Genetics the Internet explosion began, and I was very fortunate to be in a nice position to grab on for the ride. I studied the genetics of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans in Dr. Susan Strome's lab, and taught computer courses for the Information Technology Education Program, at Indiana University. I believe that the recent explosion in technology has created many possibilities for its use, but I am interested in trying to separate the wheat from the chaff to bring any useful or time-saving functions to the forefront. In addition, I have always been interested in the many wonderful stories that can be woven from the biological sciences, so I am thrilled to have a chance to combine both my interests in a department so committed to undergraduate education.

My capacity in the department includes overseeing the Howard Hughes Computer Lab (120 Clapp Hall), coordinating Departmental computing efforts, and assisting with educational technology. In addition, I am involved in the Computational Biology course (BioSci 1590) offered during spring semesters. Please feel free to stop by, phone, or e-mail me with any questions.
