Dr. Mendeloff is a professor
in and director of the public management and policy program in the Graduate
School of Public and International Affairs. He also has joint appointments
in the School of Law
and in the Graduate School of Public Health in the Health Services
Administration and Environmental and Occupational Health departments. He
holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University
of California-Berkeley. He taught there and at the University
of California-San Diego and
SUNY-Albany before coming to the University
of Pittsburgh. His research has
focused on government regulation of health and safety risks, especially by
the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. He is also currently
studying the FDA's regulation of new drugs. His other research interests
have included trauma care, mental health services, and organ procurement.
