Transcending Boundaries: EnGendering Human Security
This conference provided graduate students with the opportunity to present their work on issues pertaining to human security through presentations of academic papers, panel discussions, and posters. The panels will include: Weapons and the Destruction of the Masses; Gearing Up for the Epidemic: HIV/AIDS Awareness Programming and Women’s Vulnerability Factors; Sustaining Life: Human Rights and Natural Resource; The Once and Future Plague: Africa’s HIV/AIDS Social Epidemic; A Call to Peace: Global Intervention in Conflict and Genocide; Laws of the Lands: Fostering Gender Equality Amid Cultural Diversity; New World Slavery: Child Labor and Human Trafficking; Female Status in a Changing World; and Managing Violence and Conflict Through Civil Participation. Loar, Interim Director of the
Self Defense Class The AWPH sponsored a women's self-defense class on Tuesday February 3rd at 6pm in the GSPH 1st Floor Student Lounge. This class was taught by Sensei Danny Roberts 5th Degree Black belt. Sensei Roberts demonstrated how to escape several types of attacks using primarily technique instead of strength. The participants learned a lot, and due to requests we may have this class again very soon. Stay tuned!!!
