September 9, 2010: Ian Feigel receives the Safford Award for Excellence as a Graduate Student Teacher.
September 1, 2010: Dr. Alexander Star has received a NIEHS Outstanding New Environmental Scientist (ONES) Award, which comes with a R01 grant to conduct a five-year project entitled "Investigations and Mitigation of Carbon Nanomaterial Toxicity."
September 1, 2010: Gregg Kotchey was awarded a highly competitive U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) STAR Graduate Fellowship.
July 21, 2010: We congratulate Brett Allen on his successful Ph.D. dissertation defense. Dr. Allen has joined ICx Technologies as a senior research scientist. We wish Brett the best of luck at ICx.
March 24, 2010: We congratulate Douglas Kauffman on his successful Ph.D. dissertation defense. Dr. Kauffman was awarded a prestigious National Research Council associateship through the National Academies. He will join the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL, Pittsburgh, PA) as a postdoctoral fellow. We wish Doug the best of luck in his future endeavors.
March 2010: Dr. Alexander Star is named Section Editor-in-Chief of the topical section on "Biosensors" for the journal Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220).
February 2010: Dr. Alexander Star is awarded a NSF CAREER Award for a project entitled "Synthesis and Exploration of Graphitic Nanocapsules."
January 2010: Brian Barth and Ian Feigel join the Star group.
October 2009: Undergraduate researcher, Matthew Keddie, travels to Harrisburg, PA to present his research entitled, ‘TAILORING THE VOLUMETRIC PARAMETERS OF NITROGEN-DOPED CARBON NANOTUBE CUPS’ to Pennsylvania state legislators as a part of the state-wide Undergraduate Research at the Capital program (URC-PA).
