Pat just got married. Patrick and Susan Fisher. I got to be best man at the wedding, I got to say nice things about them, and I got to eat cookies. There's nothing like a New Castle, Pennsylvania wedding. The family brings a whole tray of cookies, it's like the tradition was designed for me. I'm looking for pictures to share, but I'm not finding much. Since this is my first update in eight months, it might be a while until I get a picture of the blushing bride. For now, they live in Mt. Lebanon, south of Pittsburgh. Susan is a nurse, and Pat shoots things with a laser and calls it "research".
Background on Pat: Patrick is younger than I, but older than David. He is doing pretty well right now. He is pursuing his PhD in a field you wouldn't understand under the boot of someone you wouldn't know in a city you have never visited. He, unlike David and I, knows how to smile properly for a picture, so when I find some, I'll put them up.
Here is Pat playing Rugby (He is the guy in blue with the patch on his shirt, the one that looks pained or angry or both):
Pat was also good enough recently to forward me a small collection of his recent writings. He appears to be a better writer than me, but don't be deceived. He only writes better because the people running the Doctorial program in "Growth and characterization of compound semiconductors, fundamental issues in epitaxy and device processing" at Carnegie Mellon are all slackers. Even the kids in Kinesiology laugh at the Doctors of Epitaxy.
Still, his writing is quite good. Enjoy.
