Environment
At some point not too long ago, I became seriously interested in the environment. I mean that on a number of levels. There was a time in my life (most of it really) where I didn't pay much attention to the things around me. I think service in the Peace Corps and living with Elly have opened my eyes. I'm a bird watcher now. I love birds. I'm concerned about invasive species of plants. I work for the Department of Natural Resources. Healing feels like the right thing for me and my career, but I won't forget nature, and I'm happy I've learned to pay attention to the life that shares my path.
Just so you know my favorite birds right now:

| The Tree Swallow is fantastic. It likes to play. It's blue color is fetching, and more than any other bird I've seen, it love to play. |
The Indigo Bunting sits in the top of a tree and sings all day. It has a complicated song and it's color stands out in the woods where you find it. |
The Oven Bird is the first bird I ever netted (I used to set up mist netting to catch and tag birds with the Urban Ecology Center). I've been partial to this guy ever since. Plus, he's easy to ID with that orange streak on his head. |
Invasive species to be aware of:

Finally, a few of the organizations I know of that try to fight the good fight:
