Alex Rieber
My name is Alex Rieber and I am a freshman engineer at the University of Pittsburgh. I've lived in Pittsburgh all my life (Go Steelers and Penguins).
I went to Seton-LaSalle High School, located in Mt. Lebanon. I came to Pitt not because it was so close to home, but in spite of it.
I worked at the Concordia Club in Oakland for more than two years before coming to Pitt, so I'm familiar with the streets. I had to ride the buses
to get here a lot, so I'm familiar with them. I've found that I much prefer the city over the country. I love riding the buses, as I can get just about anywhere I
need for free (at least so long as I remain at Pitt). I like being able to walk to everything I need in Oakland. Having been here for a couple years now, I understand
what a pain it is to park here. I think the city if Pittsburgh needs to extend the Trolley out to Oakland and needs to address the issues involving the congestion.
The North Shore extension is cool, but it needs to extend somewhere beyond the North Shore. Preferably, Oakland would get a separate line, allowing the North Shore line
to continue out to the Airport as officials want. Oakland is a really great place to spend the next couple years, but it would be nice if the city made some major changes to
how we get here.
