Anca Pelinescu

About Me

Hello! My name is Anca Pelinescu and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. At the end of my four years here I plan to major in Bioengineering and minor in Chemistry. So far this year I have taken several Bioengineering and Chemistry courses that have spurred my interests in these two areas. I am looking forward to the rest of my time here and to the opportunities this degree will open for me in the future!

Currently, I live in Wexford, Pennsylvania with my parents and younger brother. However, I have previously lived in several cities in Romania (my country of birth), Maryland, and southern Florida. As a result of my experiences with moving, I have come to love traveling and am continuously fascinated by new places and cultures.

The Project

Our team will work with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to continue the collection of data regarding the Schenley Park watershed begun last year. Through the collection and analysis of orthophotographs and old United States Geographical Society Topographic surveys, our team will work on determining how the soil is currently traveling through the watershed syste. This project will be one of the first step in the restoration of the Panther Hollow Lake and surrounding region.

Our Community Partner

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is an organization dedicated to the preservation of the four great parks found in Pittsburg: Firck, Highland, Riverview, and Schenley. The conservancy is key in the restoration of these sites through the management and preservation of its plant life and surroundings, as well as through expanding community awareness.
