Tissue Engineering
Tissue engineering projects can be broken down into two categories: the development of an artificial ovary and the study of gradient scaffolds. The artificial ovary project is in response to sterilizing surgery or chemotherapy that can render young girls and women infertile. The goal of the project is to develop a novel suspension culture system that will support follicle growth and maturation through the antral transition and into later stages of development. The advancement of a gradient scaffold that supports tissue growth focuses on the development of a scaffold which will degrade over time with the in-growth of tissue.
