Suranaree University Library
|
This is the back side of the library of the University.
(The configuration of roads made a picture from the front difficult to
take.)
|
The Library's lobby, like so many buildings in Thailand,
is open to the outside. (There are no windows between the lobby and the
outside here.)
|
This is the other side of the library lobby, graced
by Dr. Narumol Ruksasuk, Deputy Director of the library..
|
Here is Narumol in her office in the library.
|
Ms. Doungjai Tiraprasertsin, head of the technical services
unit in the library, is flanked by book carts, as is usual in any library.
|
The cataloging department will look very familiar to
any catalogers viewing this!
|
The library's online catalog uses the Dynix system.
Here Mrs. Suparuk Mernkatok, head of public services, helps a student
with her use of the OPAC.
|
The public service area is light and roomy. This picture
looks across the circulation desk area to a bank of computers that are
devoted to various online indexes.
|
A display in the library includes this case of palm-leaf
manuscripts, at least 200 years old. If you look closely you can see writing
on the top palm leaves. These were the way of writing and recording information
before paper. They were wrapped in fabric to assist in staving off deterioration.
