Prasat Hin Phimai
This is the main view of the inner compound after crossing the serpent bridge and entering the outer compound. This particular site has been partially restored.

We hired an English-speaking guide to show us around. Here he is showing us a building where royalty gathered before going to the religious ceremony.

This was supposedly the library (scriptorium) for the sanctuary complex.

A view of the inner compound. The windows are "fake," filled with small columns so no one could see into the central sanctuary.

At the heart of the sanctuary is the Buddha under Naga. Naga is a mythical protective serpent. Here Buddha sits on a coiled naga and the creature's head forms an umbrella over him (someone must have anticipated the deterioration of the Prasat and a leaky roof!)
