More Masada pictures

Looking down on a portion of the multi-level palace Herod had built. Although we were unable to get close to them, there are several cisterns in caves; water collection trenches were dug so that rain water would collect in the cisterns. Note the view, with the Dead Sea in the background.

A partial restoration of the Roman type bath area, cut-away to show the supporting pillars in the area where the hot water and steam was circulated.

Just below, on the left, is the start of the trail down, for those hardy enough to undertake such.

Wayne and Arlene at an overlook on Masada, which looks over the barren hills to the west. Another of the Roman camp remains is just to Arlene's left. When Jesus went into the wilderness, this is the kind of area where he spent the 40 days.
