scholarly sessions, please send title and abstract of your
paper, and for live concerts please send your
programme.
The event
will comprise three sections as follows
1. Scholarly sessions will be on topics pertaining to
(i)
History (ii) Style (iii) Performance (iv) Aesthetics (v)
Social context
(vi) Reception (vii) Marketing (viii) Publishing (ix)
Pedagogy
(x) Contacts with Asia or Latin America.
Proposals for papers must be submitted in the form of a 300
word abstract.
2.
Special sessions will be available for composers to discuss
their works, illustrated with live and/or recorded
examples.
3. Live concerts will feature the works of composers of
Africa and the Diaspora as well as works by composers of
non-African origin in which African resources are used.
You are
invited to submit proposals for any of the sections not
later than
1
February 2007.
Funds available to the organizers are very limited and,
therefore, all participants are expected to provide their
own funds in respect of local and international travel and
board and lodging. Lodging will be available at Churchill
College and details of cost will be communicated to you at
a later date.
Registration fees will be £100.00, payable in cash when you
arrive at the symposium and festival.
