This 2-hour documentary follows writer Faith Adiele, journalist Andrew Lam and brothers Armando and Carlos Peña as they travel to their ancestral homelands to uncover the impact of global history on individuals and American society. Their stories reveal biographies at turns thought-provoking, humorous and emotionally devastating.

Faith's 30-minute section, written and narrated by her, recounts her parents' roles in the Civil Rights and African Independence movements and her own experiences growing up Nigerian-Nordic- American. The segment was produced by Renee Tajima-Peña, directed by Lourdes Portillo, filmed by Vicente  Franco, and edited by Johanna Demerest.
