Mission Statement

The mission of the Senate Committee of the University Press is to ensure the quality of the books that are published by the University of Pittsburgh Press. The Committee carries out this mission by evaluating book proposals and manuscripts submitted for publication, the reception of published books, and the performance of book series and series editors. The Committee provides advice and consultation to the Executive Director of the Press, and may when called upon forward the best interests of the Press to the University community and members of the University administration. The Committee reviews annually in general terms the financial condition of the Press, and reports annually to the Senate on its activities and the Press’s performance during the preceding year.
