The Technology Commercialization Alliance is the central gateway for the most innovative, inspired commercial ideas at the University of Pittsburgh. Through TCA, Pitts faculty, staff, and students have at their fingertips all the resources necessary to ensure commercial success. Likewise, investors and members of private industry have in TCA a partner that will help them identify the best opportunities on campus.
Whether you are looking for help in converting your idea into a commercially viable innovation or exploring a portfolio of potential investments, TCA is the place to begin.
Founded in 2002, the Technology Commercialization Alliance (TCA) is the premier resource for commercial innovation at the University of Pittsburgh, providing extensive entrepreneurial support, education, and outreach for Pitt faculty, staff, and students on the road from concept to commercialization.
In a single year, according to the Association of University Technology Managers, academic technology transfer was responsible for adding more than $40 billion to the U.S. economy and supporting 270,000 jobs. From new cancer treatments to faster modems to exquisite flowering plants, these ideasand the people behind themhave touched our lives. At Pitt, they dont have to do it alone.
Through its specially designed Commercial Readiness Process, TCA gives innovators the information, motivation, and technical support they need to bring their ideas successfully to market. The University is rich in resources that enhance every step of your project, from prototype design and analysis to entrepreneurial education, legal counsel, business collaboration opportunities, funding sources, and licensing. For a full list of what we offer, visit our TCA Partners page.
Rather than navigating these resources alone, people with ideas now can go straight to the top by contacting TCA. As the parent organization of this support network, we are committed to helping Pitts faculty, staff, and students forge the partnerships they need to change the world.
