Pittsburgh is situated at the confluence of three rivers, and the city optimizes its 36 miles of waterfront. Water skiers, boaters, freshwater snorkelers, rafters, and fishing enthusiasts all share the water, which is often dappled with the paddleboats of the Gateway Clipper Fleet. Every fall Pittsburgh hosts the Head of the Ohio, the second largest crew race in the nation, and summer brings the Three Rivers Regatta, dragon boat races, and pleasure cruising. Runners, hikers, and bikers can also take advantage of the multipurpose trails that span the riverfront.
