University Library System

Pitt's University Library System is the 26th-largest academic research library in all of North America and the 16th-largest among the prestigious public libraries of the Association of American Universities. It provides a large array of innovative, world-class services.

Health Sciences Library System

The Health Sciences Library System supports the educational, research, clinical, and service activities of the Schools of the Health Sciences and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center through development of innovative information resources and services.

Barco Law Library

Primarily used by students and faculty at the School of Law, the Barco Law Library is also available for use by anyone needing to do legal research. About 36,000 square feet of the library was recently modernized during a $1.5 million makeover.

Digital Research Library

The Digital Research Library of the University Library System supports Pitt’s teaching and research missions and serves users through the creation and delivery of Web-accessible digital collections. All of its projects can be accessed at the D-Scribe page.

Documenting Pitt

You’re invited to explore Pitt’s rich and colorful history, as documented in publications and photographic images held by the University Archives. Through the financial support from the Office of Provost, the University Library System has digitized a set of key materials that reflect portions of the University’s documented history.

Going Electronic

Pitt’s collection of electronic resources is growing rapidly and now includes hundreds of databases, more than 35,500 electronic journals, and more than 200,000 electronic books. In addition, ULS now offers PITTCAT+, a new library catalog that enables users to find articles, books, CDs, DVDs, maps,

e-journals, images, magazines, and much more.
