Reginald Fessenden
University of Pittsburgh engineering professor Reginald Fessenden proved that radio waves could transmit human speech.
Fessenden made broadcast history when he transmitted his chief engineer’s voice across the Atlantic Ocean in November 1906. On Christmas Eve 1906, he broadcast Christmas carols and a violin solo.
