William Hunter Dammond
William Hunter Dammond earned a degree in civil engineering (with honors) and became the first African American graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.

Dammond is remembered as a noted engineer, professor, inventor, and mathematical genius whose achievements included noteworthy contributions to the railroad industry—a major American industry that employed large numbers African Americans.
