When the University of Pittsburgh’s Discover a World of Possibilities fundraising campaign approached its $1 billion goal a year ahead of schedule, Pitt resolved to push on to $2 billion.
By adopting this new campaign goal, Pitt created the largest publicly announced fundraising campaign in Pennsylvania, and advanced into the ranks of only eight other American universities pursuing campaigns of $2 billion or more.

Campaign Update
Fiscal Year 2007 was one of the University’s best fundraising years of all time. The ongoing development campaign is now well over $1 billion.
More than 119,000 people have made gifts to the University of Pittsburgh, including 200 gifts of $1 million and up.
Their generosity supports 373 new endowed scholarships and fellowships and 88 new endowed chairs and professorships.
These gifts extend the promise of a college education to many additional students and help Pitt attract and retain world-class faculty members.
