11 April, 2008 The Rainbow Alliance is pleased to announce the results of the end-of-the-year elections. Joseph Yarsky, outgoing Office Administrator, was elected President of Rainbow Alliance. Kelly Coburn, outgoing Community Outreach Chair, was elected Vice President. Nicole Potase was elected Office Administrator and Julia Wester was elected Business Manager. Stephen Kao, outgoing Communications Intern, was elected Community Outreach Chair. Taiji Nelson was elected Publicity Chair and Brendin Rogers was elected Political Action Chair. The positions of Communications Intern and Executive Intern went to Elise Drobish and James Weaver, respectively.

The Rainbow Alliance would like to thank everyone who ran in the election and wish the new and returning officers the best of luck and issue a warm farewell to retiring President and Vice President Aaron Arnold and John Musser.
5 April, 2008The University of Pittsburgh Rainbow Alliance is pleased to announce that this yearÔs seventh annual drag show raised $1,170 in cash for the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force. This money, which was given by audience members during the performance, is a significant increase in last yearÔs total donation of $800. The Rainbow Alliance would like to thank everyone who attended the drag show and contributed to Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force and looks forward to another spectacular performance next year.
 
29 January, 2008Dan Savage, acclaimed author and sex advice columnist will speak at the University of Pittsburgh on Tuesday, February 5th at 9pm in David Lawrence Hall.

Savage, an openly gay man, is nationally known for his popular sex advice column, Savage Love, which appears in many print publications. Savage has also written four books dealing with a range of topics including his experiences adopting a child to planning a commitment ceremony with his partner.

Savage has also contributed his talents as a media pundit, journalist and newspaper editor. He often offers unique and hilarious commentary on controversial issues, with his opinions taking to task both conservative and liberal extremists.

During his talk Savage will address his life experiences, share his opinions on current events and offer off-the-cuff advice for young people. A short question and answer session will follow his remarks. The event is free and open to the public.
15 January, 2008The Rainbow Alliance will be holding the first meeting of the semester on 17 January 2008 at 8:45 p.m. in room 527, William Pitt Union. In the meeting, the officers will inform the general body of upcoming events and speakers for this semester and gather ideas from the general body for future programming.
 
15 January, 2008As of 6 January 2008, Kevin Straight is no longer acting Business Manager of the Rainbow Alliance due to personal difficulties. Under section 5.02 of the Rainbow Alliance Constitution, the Steering Committee has appointed Executive Intern Andrew Kelly to fulfill the duties of the position of Business Manager.

The Rainbow Alliance Steering Committee wishes Kevin Straight the best of luck in his future.
 
29 November, 2007The Rainbow Alliance is pleased to announce the results of the mid-year elections. Kelly Coburn, outgoing Executive Intern, was elected Community Outreach Chair. Jamie Niedecker, outgoing Communications Intern, was elected Publicity Chair. Tearsa Brown was elected to the Political Action Chair. The positions of Communications Intern and Executive Intern went to Stephen Kao and Iggy Kelly, respectively.
